Veteran actor Tommy Abuel is an expert in the field of acting. When it comes to matters of the heart, how does the Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real actor measure up?
In the drama series, the award-winning actor plays Justino Salazar, the father of Lovi Poe’s character, Shiela.
“Ako ay isang istrikto at disciplinarian na ama ng karakter ni Lovi Poe. In spite of that, nakalusot ang aking anak at nagkaroon ng relasyon sa karakter ni Dingdong,” he said about his role.
Infidelity is the theme being heavily tackled by the show. What can viewers learn from it?
“Ang matutunan nila ay kung paano ihahandle ‘yung situation when it happens. Kunwari, sa mga katulad ng karakter ko na mga ama ng na-argabyado, they will learn how the family will handle the situation. Iyong mga tao na in love or mai-in love, depende na sa kanila iyon kung paano nila maa-apply ‘yung natutunan nila,” he answered.
Would he prefer to be bound by a contract or bound by heart?
He replied, “Kapag kasal sa papel, ang pananaw ko ay walang pag-ibig na namamagitan. Kung sasabihin mong kasal sa puso, iyon ang may tunay na pag-ibig, mas matimbang [ito] definitely.”
What would he do if his wife cheats on him?
“Kung ‘yung asawa ko ay hahanap ng iba, I will assess the situation. First, why is she doing this? Tatanungin ko rin ang sarili ko kung saan ako nagkulang. I will not immediately put the blame on her,” he said.
He continued, “Open the communication. Talk about it. Kung alam ko na ang kanyang hinanaing. I will try to adjust to save the marriage and to keep the family together.”
“Kung gusto mong humiwalay, huwag na natin parusahan ang ating mga sarili. I will not force you to stay in the marriage if you’re not happy. Kung nakakita ka ng mas mahal mo sa akin, bilang isang taong nagmamahal, I will let you go.”
