GMA Network, Inc. has announced the results of its internal investigation into reports that DZBB anchorman Melo Del Prado received payoffs from pork barrel funds coursed through the National Agri Business Corporation (NABCOR).

A three-member panel cleared Del Prado of any wrongdoing stating that they “found no basis to say that Del Prado, while working as an anchorman of GMA/DZBB, received any payoff from any legislator’s pork barrel.”

The panel examined several documents including legitimate broadcast contracts, payment vouchers, statements of income taxes withheld and internal GMA forms and procedures and found everything in order.

The payments made to and received by Del Prado were legitimate and fully documented advertising transactions between him and the Department of Agriculture.

It was also noted that the affidavits of NABCOR VP, Administration and Finance and General Services Supervisor Victor Roman Cacal did not even mention Del Prado or any payments he received from NABCOR.

In reaction to the investigation results, Del Prado stated that he never had any doubt that he would be cleared since he had a complete set of files for all his advertising engagements as a DZBB anchorman. He also expressed his gratitude to the management of GMA for its fairness and support.

The GMA panel was composed of Atty. Eduardo Santos, First Vice-President, Internal Audit Department, Atty. Lynn Delfin, Vice-President, Legal Affairs Department and Atty. Gerrome Apolona, Vice-President, Human Resources Development Department.
