Whether it's bouncing back from a breakup, losing unwanted vacation pounds or bringing back self-confidence, Kapuso stars Martin del Rosario and Kylie Padilla shared their advice in Basta Every Day Happy on how you can get into the ‘balik-alindog program.’
Be kind
It may have been said way too often, but its truth cannot be denied— beauty is largely contingent on kindness. “Ang pinaka-importante [is] yung kagandahan ng loob. ‘Pag mabait yung tao, mas gumaganda siya. Kung maganda naman pero [pangit] naman yung ugali, wala rin,” Martin said.
Love your body
Another factor to consider in improving your life is how well-groomed and fit you are. If you put no effort in looking presentable, your confidence and self-esteem could easily be dragged down.
For Martin, he makes it a point to take care of his body which allows him to feel a lot better about himself. “Ako, three times [a week] ako nagwo-work out [para] feeling healthy. [At] the usual, mga regimen, yung facial wash, toner. [Grooming] and proper hygiene of course,” he added.
Always be excited about life
Kylie advices the heartbroken to never lose one's zest for life. “Huwag ka mawalan ng gana kasi ako, sa totoo lang, nawalan ako ng gana for a while,” she stated. “But then sabi ko, [kailangan ko] gawin para sa sarili [ko], huwag sa ibang tao."
Do it for yourself
You can be truly happy if you work towards becoming a better person for yourself, and not for the purpose of living up to others’ standards. “Inisip ko lang [dati], sino ba talaga ako? Kasi noon, nag-e-effort naman ako, nagpapaganda ako, pero to please other people. As in kahit ayaw ko mag-short dress, ayaw ko magpa-sexy, ginagawa ko para lang ma-please yung ibang tao,” she disclosed. “Tapos [na-realize] ko na wait lang, sino ba talaga ako? Ito, baliw,” she shared, laughing, as she donned a cat ears headband.
For Martin and Kylie, loving yourself is key to reaching your happiest and most beautiful state. It's the most natural way to get your "alindog" back.
